What the Studio stores, and why

Harness Studio is a self-hosted tool. It runs on computers owned by the person who installed it, and it only touches accounts that person connects. This page explains what the tool accesses, what it stores, and how you can revoke access.

Google account access

Signing in with Google asks only for your name, email address and profile picture, to match you to an invited account.

Connecting a YouTube channel asks Google for permission to:

  • Upload videos and set thumbnails on the channel you choose (YouTube Data API, scopes youtube.upload and youtube).
  • Read channel details and video statistics such as views, watch time and audience retention for that channel (YouTube Analytics API, scope yt-analytics.readonly).

The tool never reads your email messages, contacts, or any Google data outside the YouTube channel you connect. It never posts, comments, likes or subscribes on your behalf. Every upload is started by a person clicking a button in the Studio.

What is stored, and where

  • OAuth tokens for the connected channel are stored in a local database on the computer that runs Harness Studio. They are sent only to Google's APIs.
  • Channel statistics and per-video analytics are stored in the same local database so the Studio can show trends over time.
  • Account records (name, email, a salted password hash if a password was set, the Google account id) live in that database too.
  • Videos, scripts and thumbnails are files on the same computer.

No data is shared with, sold to, or synced to any third party. There is no hosted server operated by us, so we hold no user data centrally.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Harness Studio's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the features described above.

Revoking access

  • In the Studio, open Channels and click Disconnect. This deletes the stored tokens.
  • You can also remove Harness Studio at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • The owner can remove any account under Settings → Access.

Other services

Depending on how it is configured, the Studio may send script text to a language-model provider chosen by its owner (for example Google Vertex AI) to help write narration and titles. That text is the owner's own script content, never data from a connected Google account.
